Yellow-crowned Night-Heron Crab Snack

While at Matheson Park yesterday I observed a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron eat a crab.  I managed a few nice shots despite the overcast sky.  I especially enjoyed watching the heron decide if it was safe to eat in front of me and then proceed to kill the crab with gusto and toss it down.  The last photo has some nice crab legs sticking out of the herons mouth.  Nature is pretty awesome even on a gray afternoon with mosquitoes attacking.

Great series of photos. They do love crabs, don't they? :)
