Glossy Ibis in the Sun

There are both White and Glossy Ibis at Green Cay but something about the Glossies attract me to them. Maybe it's their solitary habits. Or the way the sun shines on their feathers causing a array of colors to show. No matter, I am always happy to see them on my bird counts. This GLIB was seen about 4 feet from the boardwalk. On a recent tour I was telling my group that this bird was similiar to the White Ibis that they all know from their yards and roadsides except that's it's dark with the glossy sheen. One of my participants stated "Oh you mean it's a White Ibis that's flown from the oil sheen?" Touché.
