My family has a "cabin" on Black River in South Carolina. The adjoining farm has been in my family since the early days of South Carolina. The pre-Civil War farmhouse still stands and has been remodeled recently (picture of it in the post last week). So on my Labor Day trip home I spent the majority of my time having fun at the river. We played cards, communed with nature, shot some guns, and had a big party with lots of good ole Southern food like squash, sweat potatoes, hoppin' johns, home-made macroni and cheese, and pork on the grill. I even tried my first vodka tea.
Needless to say, I had a wonderful time and it was hard to say goodbye. I haven't been to the river during summer in forever and the place was alive with green trees and wildlife. My favorite part of the trip was having fun with my family at our special place. The next few days I will assemble some trip highlights. Maybe I'll even show you some video of the big snake.
