Today is the official vernal equinox. Translated literally, equinox means "equal night." Because the sun is positioned above the equator, day and night are about equal in length all over the world during the equinoxes. Since I live in South Florida, this day doesn't bring much spring time weather (we always have spring weather throughout the winter months). But the plants are taking notice of the longer days of sunshine. The Pond and Bald Cypresses are finally getting new green growth again.
