Best Green Cay Bird of 2011: Virginia Rail

I've been working at the Green Cay Nature Center for 5 years. This is where I became a birder and each year it delivers a new lifer for me. The best bird of 2011 for me at Green Cay was the Virginia Rail that made itself at home for a few weeks. It took a couple of tries but finally I saw it near the gazebo at the Sora spot on the mile trail. It gave me great looks and really, a rail is a good bird anywhere but an exceptional bird for Green Cay. Not only a first for the park but also for me. It didn't make the top 10 lifers of the year but it did make the Best Bird of Green Cay. I wonder what bird Green Cay will give me in 2012. I can't wait to find out!
