Kaiju! Monster Invasion!

The Kaijū! Monster Invasion! exhibition is now displayed at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. I love Japanese art, traditional and contemporary and this exhibition doesn't disappoint. Kaijū have been a part of Japanese culture since the first Godzilla film in the 1950s. Since then many other movies and tv shows have become popular. This collection of over 100 figures comes from a private collection and showcases the variety of Kaijū monsters that were popular during this time.

If you've never been to the Morikami Gardens and you are visiting or live near Delray then you should go check it out. They have a kick-ass restuarant, beautiful gardens and trails, and of course the inside exhibits are always changing. The Kaijū! Monster Invasion! exhibit will be running through October 17, 2010. Below is a sampling of what you will find:

Gomora, one of the only villians to defeat Ultraman.

Twintale, another villian of Ultraman.

This is a really fun exhibit and it's showcased right beside a more traditional kimono/screen type of art installation. If you're a fan of anime, manga, Japanese culture, or just a kid at heart, this exhibition is for you!

This looks fantastic. I didn't even know this museum and garden existed. I may have to make a trip to Delray Beach!
