Marsh Rabbit Release

In addition to the Yellow-crowned Night Heron we also released a baby Marsh Rabbit yesterday. It was beyond cute. We thought it would dart out of the cage when we opened the door but instead it just cozied up in the back of the kennel in a towel. Smart rabbit! So we removed the towel and waited. Still nothing, so then Jim the rehabber blew on the rabbits fur a few times and managed to get it to move to the door. After a quick look around it darted out and then within a few feet of me it froze, classic rabbit behavior. After a minute or so it realized I wasn't a predator and hopped over near some high grass.
