Favorite Winter Bird
Photo by Bill Kominsky, used with permission. One of my favorite birds this winter has been the Blue-headed Vireo. We've had one all winter hanging out on the Cypress Island at Green Cay. Mixed with it in the feeding flock of Palm Warblers was also a Magnolia Warbler but the Blue-headed still took the prize for me. A month ago it moved to the Tropical Hardwood Hammock and started socializing with the Yellow-rumped Warblers that call that area their winter home. I'm going to miss this bird when it leaves for the north. Hopefully I have a few more weeks to soak in the bright colors of this beauty.
