You may notice that the above photos do not show any Smooth-billed Anis (Crotophaga ani). Andy and I have struck out twice trying to find these guys. I saw my lifer ani last year at the Belle Glade Marina in Palm Beach County. We searched there a couple of months ago without luck and then we searched this Broward County location near the Ft. Lauderdale airport a couple of weeks ago. What this means is that this weekend we are going ani hunting and hopefully, we won't get strike three. These are great birds with a wonderful call. Now if we could just locate one! I'll let you know how it goes.
