My family came to visit me early this year. We timed it so that Mom's birthday would fall at the beginning of the vacation. My brother decided to fly down and surprise her as a present. Our other present that we gave her was a day at the beach. Now I'm sure you're thinking a day at the beach isn't special when my mom could drive to Myrtle Beach, SC to play or just hop in the pool in her backyard but this beach has shells and my mother is a beachcombing fool.
Here is just a sampling of the shells that could be found at MacArthur Beach State Park. The really good shells required a little more work. Luckily, we had some goggles that allowed us to search for shells in the surf. The water clarity down here in Florida is amazing. Maybe I'm easy to please after growing up around the South Carolina and Georgia salt marshes, where they empty into the ocean and cause the water to be murky and brown.
Below is one of the few pictures that I have of me and my brother. We just don't take many pictures together. Despite our differences, I like having my brother has a friend.
This last photo is Regina laying out...it kind of looks like a car ran her over with those tracks. Those are from the sea turtle patrol that checks on the nesting progress. We didn't see any turtles but we did find a few empty eggshells on the beach.
