Top Five Meme: Desired Life Birds

Inspired by Corey, I thought I would play along for this meme. And I'm going to borrow his idea and keep my list to an ABA one though I could easily think of 5 birds outside the area I would love to see. Here are my current selections:

1. Cerulean Warbler - this one will be tough for me to find in Florida but maybe I'll be able to track one down.
2. Atlantic Puffin - a trip to Maine looks in order for this one. I wouldn't argue with that idea.
3. Red Crossbill and White-winged Crossbill - something about the weird bill has me itching to see these birds.
4. Snowy Owl, Great Gray Owl, and Northern Hawk Owl - yeah, I'm going to cheat and name all the northern owls that I will probably never see down here.
5. Hook-billed Kite - this one was a possibility on my recent TX trip but I missed it. Once again the fascination has to do with that weird bill shape.

Eight Radom Facts

The rules, as if you don’t already know them, are as follows:

• Players write a post with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

1. I know all the major constellations of the winter sky.
2. The first real job I had was working as an electrician’s assistant.
3. I have yet to break a bone but I did have 10 stitches on my left cheek.
4. Last summer, I had over 200 turtle nests that I checked on daily. Of that, over 600 of them hatched and were tagged before I left for the fall.
5. When I have an outreach group early in the morning I take the baby alligator and snakes home with me. The neighborhood children think I am amazing.
6. I have worked for two universities and lived on two different islands.
7. I keep a sticker making machine on my desk at work.
8. I have never visited California but my mother insists that if I ever go there, I will never return back to the East coast.
